How about we don’t do anything “for” the camera?
I see my Instagram flooded with those beautiful photos of brides jumping on the bed, cheering their friends, posing on a balcony with a great view.
And yeah, they are gorgeous; they make you dream; they romanticize the day.
But… they are staged. They were created for the camera. Performed.

What if they happened for real?

What if, instead of doing things for the camera, you just did it because you wanted to? What if it was your absolute dream to jump on the bed of the incredible castle you rented for your wedding day?
What if you actually took a moment to admire the view from the balcony of this gorgeous hotel on the French Riviera?
What if you screamed with excitement with your bridesmaids, dancing like crazy on your favorite song to evacuate the stress and get in the vibe before the big yes?
What if you played a game of cards with your guys to relax? What if you helped each other dress up because you want to feel connected to them? What if you drove that cabriolet, just because you’ve always dreamt of being in that kind of car and feeling the wind in your hair while leaving the ceremony just the two of you, sharing this experience and living it fully?

I still believe that directed and guided images can be beautiful and add a lot to the reportage of the day, especially during the couple session and group photos.

But for all the rest, what if we completely forgot the camera, the I shoulds, the performances, and simply lived the dream?
You don’t need to perform; you just need to fully connect with yourself, allow yourself to live the life you dream of, for you. Not for the photos. Not for the others.

We don’t need to create memories. They happen. I’m just here to capture them. This is what documentary photography is.
